National Gallery- No:1 Place to see on a London City Break
Of all the best things to do, National Gallery is rated top among the other attractions in the city of London. So, if you happened to be on a visit to London or is planning, don't miss it.
I recently made a visit to the famed gallery with my friend who's working for Oracle Advertising. We were awestruck at the collections of paintings the gallery had. To tell you the fact, "The National Gallery, London, houses one of the greatest collections of European paintings in the world. These pictures belong to the public and entrance is free. The National Gallery's permanent collection spans the period from about 1250 to 1900 and consists of Western European paintings.
There is always an exhibition of a particular collection of paintings here. Now they are running an exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan. It was started in 9 November 2011 and will run till 5 February 2012.
The Gallery building itself offers all sorts of sculptural and decorative delights. It’s always worth looking up to the ceilings and down at the floors – some of the best surprises lie beneath your feet. Also there are eateries if you would like to have a hot cup of coffee or tea or even dinner. You can shop at the gallery for books, prints and gifts and discover more about the galleries collections with audio tours and themed trails.
If you are coming with your family, there are activities and resources that even kids will enjoy. The gallery has even made it possible for the blind and partially sighted visitors to enjoy the show. And, the most exciting thing is that you can sketch through out the gallery, if you have the skill in you.
The Gallery is opened daily from 10am to 6pm and on Fridays, from 10am to 9pm. The gallery sits in Trafalgar Square, London. Just 0.6 miles from London city centre.
